With *Jukebox* (premiering in 2026), the company continues its exploration by presenting a musical odyssey blending dance and circus arts, where each stage setting becomes a reflection of the passions, desires, and inner contradictions with which everyone can identify. Set to the rhythms of funk, electro, and contemporary music, the show unfolds like a musical score celebrating diversity, the joy of empowerment, and the freedom to be oneself.
“Jukebox” is a modern circus production fused with contemporary hip-hop, also introducing a new form of choreographic storytelling through magic. This hybridization, which lies at the heart of the company’s work, combines technical mastery with sensitivity. At the center of this experience, an object emerges as an enigma: a jukebox, conceived as a machine that triggers narratives of inner worlds.
By inserting a coin, the performer takes a decisive step: making a choice. Each choice opens up a new space, representing a different emotional state: glory, solitude, freedom, illusion, but also the possibility of renewal. The jukebox, this machine of choice, becomes a symbol of the freedom to rewrite one’s story and embrace the light of one’s own uniqueness.

Since its founding in 2020, the Haspop Company – Cirque du Grand Lyon has sought to blur the boundaries between urban dance and the circus, placing the convergence of these disciplines at the heart of its artistic language.
As a product of urban culture, Hassan El Hajjami—dancer, choreographer, and director—has chosen to place hip-hop dance in a fruitful dialogue with the circus arts. Aerial acrobatics, balance, acrobatics, contemporary magic, and urban choreographic movement intertwine to form a hybrid and poetic vocabulary.
From its very beginnings, the company has affirmed its desire to tell universal stories through the body: the power of books, the hope found in exile, dreams, collective memory, and inner struggles. Each performance thus becomes a sweeping narrative that explores the notion of freedom, the strength of human bonds, and the power of the imagination. The creative process is rooted in a collective dynamic, where each performer brings their own unique perspective to the project.
