From the Italian "in petto" (in secret), itself from the Latin "in pectore" (in the chest), in the secret of the heart.
"in petto interno" is an extension of the street show "in petto", which here finds its stage writing, a more in-depth development of the themes addressed.
How can we survive when the world is constantly crumbling beneath our feet? It's the constant search for balance that drives the two characters.
These clown musicians present their music to the audience.
The handcart they carry and which shelters them, at once a dwelling, a lodge and a promontory, a shaky playground, is in unstable equilibrium on the single axis of its two wheels. It tilts ceaselessly, tossing them from side to side, mowing them down, expelling them and tormenting them. In a suspended moment, they will find a compromise, a precarious balance, a salutary solution that will enable them to continue on the road, the path of their lives.
The search for a tragi-comic playground plunges the characters into situations with existentialist echoes.
Fundamentally inadequate, these two celestial tramps are destined for mutual dependence, and the non-narration of almost Beckettian lives. A fatally absurd poem, "in petto interno" deals with the state of being and not being around a wobbly house-world.
