Louise

They reverse roles, upset the established order, disobey injunctions. They are anarchic and prodigious. They are hilarious and mysterious. They are fierce and exquisite. They are all Louise. In a large, strange and penetrating laboratory, unusual events are taking place: human matter is being experimented with from every angle. Four artists (Bérangère Bodin, Eline Guélat, Rosalba Torres Guerrero and Marianna de Sanctis) take it in turns to play the leaders, the bosses, the guinea pigs, the patients and the maids in this place where tyranny reigns. In this thrilling role-play, bodies, minds and souls rebel and rebel. The protagonists blur the lines to save their own skins. And it's thanks to their incredible strength, their black anger, their disconcerting humor, their mad chic and their joie de vivre that they will inflict a stinging reverse on tyranny. Creativity and pleasure defy the abyss, and a whole new world of possibilities opens up.

For over 25 years, the multi-award-winning Swiss choreographer has been developing a form of wordless theater whose blend of contemporary circus, dance and spectacular stage installations has captivated audiences the world over.

"My humor is the laughable side of tragedy. Amplifying it to the point of comedy allows us to go beyond it. For me, the tragicomic has a fierce violence and power: it's radical and sharp, driven by a certain malice, but also mischievous, precise and mysterious. It's from this complexity that I draw the inspiration for my work; it's the source of it."

For more than 25 years, multi-artist Martin Zimmermann has been inventing, choreographing and staging wordless visual and physical theater, whose blend of contemporary circus, dance, theater and spectacular stage installations captivates audiences the world over. Making art accessible to all and striving for greater inclusion and diversity are issues that are particularly close to his heart. For his pieces, he creates bizarre and strange worlds, in which everyday objects find themselves displaced in parallel, often absurd, worlds. He shakes up conventions, reveals the invisible, makes the improbable seem true and encourages spectators to think differently. At the heart of his work is the dialogue between the human body and objects with a life of their own, which he usually makes meet and interact in an unstable, threatening space. The human being in all his complexity is at the heart of his research. His work has been performed at festivals and theaters worldwide, including BAM New York, TOHU-Montreal, Tokyo Metropolitan Theater, Théâtre de la Ville-Paris, Barbican London, Sydney Opera House, Grand Théâtre de Luxembourg, Théâtre Vidy-Lausanne, Hong Kong City Hall, Théâtre de Carouge, Schauspielhaus Zürich, Festival d'Avignon, NTGent and Kunstmuseum Fondation Beyeler, to name but a few. Zimmermann's set designs have won three consecutive Swiss Design Awards. In 2021, he will receive the prestigious Grand Prix suisse des arts de la scène / Hans-Reinhart-Ring 2021. Martin Zimmermann is associate artist at the maisondelaculture de Bourges / Scène Nationale.
