Since its arrival at La Scala Paris, Yongoyely, the new creation by Circus Baobab, R'en Cirque and Temal Productions, has been a resounding success. Until March 2, this powerful, engaging show continues to captivate audiences with its raw energy and refined aesthetic.
The press is unanimous:
Télérama: “Splendid demonstrations [...] Never seen before.
Libération: “A successful - and oh so risky - blend of African art and new Western circus.”
RFI: “Circus performers who command admiration.”
France Inter: “A breathtaking show in every respect.”
Inspired by M'Balia Camara, a Guinean resistance figure, Yongoyely examines the current struggles of African women for independence. On stage, six women and three men bring this reflection to life through a minimalist staging and traditional apparatus: Guinean tree trunks, headstands, hula-hoop, whip, cinderblocks and spectacular acrobatics.
Between physical power and visual poetry, Yongoyely is much more than a show, it's an ode to resilience and freedom.
Last performances at La Scala Paris until March 2!
