Vuyani Dance Theatre and acclaimed choreographer Gregory Maqoma open the bookings for their must-see show, Cion: Requiem du Boléro de Ravel, for the 2025/2026 season.
In this masterful work, Maqoma explores the universal pain of bereavement through dance, Isicathamiya a cappella music and the powerful melody of Ravel's Bolero. Inspired by the character of Toloki in Zakes Mda's novels, the show is set in a cemetery, a place where bodies, voices and souls unite to transcend sadness and restore a humanity shaken by the injustices of life and death.
With nine dancers, a vocal quartet and poignant scenography, Cion invites us to reflect deeply on loss, resilience and our ability to unite in the face of hardship.
Cion: Requiem from Ravel's Bolero is much more than a show: it's an unforgettable emotional experience, acclaimed worldwide for its visual and aural power.
